Slow down.
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Day 22 of Restricted Movement Order due to Covid-19.
So hi guys? It has been a while since I actually having some real moment, reflecting my self, pouring my thoughts and ideas into writing. This RMO things really changed me I guess. To be freaking really honest, this is such a so-called healing time for me.
I remember ever since the new semester started, I never had the chance to actually taking care of myself properly. Things were very hard and hectic for me. Starting from the preparation for MAHA Sejahtera Award, the launching of InSAF, the presentation of MAHA and then these Student Union works i.e the Townhall, the Covid-19 issues to barely managing myself with my academic related stuffs, I just managed to finally take a breath. Nope, I am not complaining. It is the responsibilities that I signed up for. By hook or by crook, I will always try my best to give my 100% into everything that I do. (Ok exaggerate la ek 100% , may be 90% la kot but regardless please know I give my all!)
Ok so back to the main topic, basically what this RMO time shows me is that how important it is to adhere to the concept of 'slowing down' from whatever that you used to do in your daily life. Even in your busiest schedule, making time for yourself may heal and recharge you ia A MUST; for you to do better, to serve your purpose greater, be it for your commitments, relationships, communications or health. People tends to neglect these things, pushing yourself until you worn out, burning out your bodies to the limit (incuding me, I have to admit sometimes i did it without I realised it may harm my body :( kesian badan kita kan, hak dia untuk berehat tak ditunaikan.)
I begin to discover ways how to 'selitkan' these healing time into my schedule. I try to make it as practical as possible so that I can actually use these ways when I return to the campus later in June (I can imagine i might be..... half dead? There are too many things to settle within 8 weeks.... Ok lets not imagine it yet, just enjoy your two months holidays first, Nadia). If you are reading this, I sincerely hope it helps you too. Just because I want all of us to take care and love ourselves more <3
1. Make sure you prioritize your rest time
- This is superrr important, you have to look that this rest time is just important as your study time, assignments, meetings, society works. Only then you will actually have the consciousness (betul ke ek) to include it into your schedule. I mean if anyone asked you "Jumaat malam sabtu free tak nak meeting?", you will proudly said "Oh tak boleh, it's my only healing time of the week." Ha gitchew
2. 10-20 minutes simple workout time everyday (or may be just few times a week)
- To keep yourself fit hehe I tried this at my home and I just loveeeee it. Maybe because it has been a while since I exercised (Ada lah kot dalam setahun? Hahaha tak sihat betul)
3. 4-6 hours of sleep
- Trying to adjust my sleeping pattern, this RMO made me sleep at 4am and sleep during the day.... which is very unhealthy. On normal days I usually sleep at 3 am but after this I will make sure I will least have a minimum 4 hours of sleep so curfew at 2am everyone!
4. Escapism
- Just go and have a tea date with yourself (or a friend or hehe maybe a boyfriend? Hahaha jk), have some good foods once in a while, watch a movie, have a picnic by the lake. Just do anything that you enjoy, have an escape and reward yourself! You worked so hard, so just make sure you credit yourself for it okay?
5. Have a light massage.
- Whenever things are hard and I can't sleep well, be it due to the headache or suffering from sore bodies, I will always go to my friend and ask a little help from them to massage my head or my back to get my blood flowing and relax myself a lil bit. Just have this 5-10 minutes session. Remember, when you are tired, you need a rest. Don't push yourself too much.
Whatever it is, you might as well do anything that you are comfortable with as long as you 'slow down' whenever are too much things on your back. Do not feel guilty to take a minute for yourself. Penuhilah hak badan anda. It's okay to listen to your body. Take care, take charge everyone <3
